The formal consultation on the proposed closure of Ysgol Betws-y-Coed, in tomorrow, Friday 09th January 2026. It is vital that residents submit their views and objections to the proposed closure.

You can still express your views by writing by email Dr Lowri Brown, [email protected], or by filling out the online form, by clicking on this  Link .

Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, who has been campaigning against the proposed closure, commented:

“The closure of Ysgol Betws-y-Coed would be devastating for the community, the language, and access to education. Some primary school students could end up having to travel for as long as half an hour from homes in Capel Curig to Ysgol Capel Garmon.

“The closure of our rural schools is detrimental to local communities, which would experience an increased sense of isolation. Schools such as Ysgol Betws-y-Coed also provide a venue for groups in these rural areas to come together, as well as offering an excellent standard of education.

“I have submitted my firm objection and highlighted the significant impacts this proposed closure would have on our community. I strongly encourage everyone, especially those in the local area, to make their views heard.”

Cynhelir yr ymgynghoriad ffurfiol ar y cynnig i gau Ysgol Betws-y-coed, yfory, ddydd Gwener 9 Ionawr 2026. Mae'n hanfodol bod trigolion yn cyflwyno eu barn a'u gwrthwynebiadau i'r cau arfaethedig.

Gallwch barhau i rannu’ch barn drwy ysgrifennu e-bost at Dr Lowri Brown, [email protected], neu drwy lenwi'r ffurflen ar-lein, drwy glicio ar y ddolen hon.

Meddai Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, sydd wedi bod yn ymgyrchu yn erbyn y bwriad i gau:

"Byddai cau Ysgol Betws-y-coed yn andwyol i'r gymuned, i’r iaith, ac i fynediad at addysg. Gallai rhai disgyblion ysgol gynradd orfod teithio am hyd at hanner awr o gartrefi yng Nghapel Curig i Ysgol Capel Garmon.

"Mae cau ein hysgolion gwledig yn niweidiol i gymunedau lleol, a fyddai’n profi mwy fyth o ynysigrwydd. Mae ysgolion fel Ysgol Betws-y-coed hefyd yn darparu lleoliad i grwpiau yn yr ardaloedd gwledig hyn ddod at ei gilydd, yn ogystal â chynnig addysg o’r ansawdd uchaf.

"Rydw i wedi cyflwyno fy ngwrthwynebiad chwyrn ac wedi tynnu sylw at yr effeithiau sylweddol y byddai'r cau arfaethedig hwn yn eu cael ar ein cymuned. Rwy'n annog pawb, yn enwedig trigolion yn yr ardal leol, i sicrhau bod eu barn yn cael ei chlywed."
