Vacant Welsh Government Offices Should be Available to Local Small Businesses/ Dylai swyddfeydd gwag Llywodraeth Cymru fod ar gael i fusnesau bach lleol

Only 12% of Welsh Government staff assigned to the Llandudno Junction headquarters attend the office on some working days. This means that the Welsh Government offices remain vacant for significant periods of time.

Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has written to the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and the Welsh Language, Mark Drakeford MS, calling for these empty office spaces to be leased out to local small businesses.

While the Cabinet Secretary has stated that these spaces are currently being utilised, there is still potential for them to be used by local businesses.

Commenting on the call for vacant Welsh Government offices to be repurposed, Janet said:

“Nearly 90% of Welsh Government staff are not using the office space in Llandudno Junction. This means there is unused space sitting vacant on a regular basis.

“We know that Llandudno Junction is a key economic hub and that businesses are regularly seeking office space. The Welsh Government should respond to that demand and allow businesses to make use of the underused space at their headquarters.

“This would provide a fantastic opportunity for businesses in Llandudno Junction and help to strengthen the Welsh economy.”

Dim ond 12% o staff Llywodraeth Cymru sydd wedi'u neilltuo i bencadlys Cyffordd Llandudno sy'n mynychu'r swyddfa ar rai diwrnodau gwaith. Mae hyn yn golygu bod swyddfeydd Llywodraeth Cymru yn parhau i fod yn wag am gyfnodau helaeth o amser.

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, wedi ysgrifennu at Ysgrifennydd y Cabinet dros Gyllid a'r Gymraeg, Mark Drakeford AS, yn galw am brydlesu'r gofodau swyddfa gwag hyn i fusnesau bach lleol.

Er bod Ysgrifennydd y Cabinet wedi dweud bod y mannau hyn yn cael eu defnyddio ar hyn o bryd, mae potensial o hyd iddyn nhw gael eu defnyddio gan fusnesau lleol.

Gan gyfeirio at yr alwad i lenwi swyddfeydd gwag Llywodraeth Cymru, dywedodd Janet:

"Nid yw bron i 90% o staff Llywodraeth Cymru yn defnyddio'r gofod swyddfa yng Nghyffordd Llandudno. Mae hyn yn golygu bod yna lefydd segur yn rheolaidd.

"Rydyn ni’n gwybod bod Cyffordd Llandudno yn ganolfan economaidd allweddol a bod busnesau'n chwilio am ofod swyddfa yn rheolaidd. Dylai Llywodraeth Cymru ymateb i'r galw hwnnw a chaniatáu i fusnesau wneud defnydd o'r gofod sy'n cael ei danddefnyddio yn eu pencadlys.

"Byddai hyn yn gyfle gwych i fusnesau yng Nghyffordd Llandudno ac yn helpu i gryfhau economi Cymru."
