Janet Finch-Saunders MS has thanked all the efforts of Team Cymru in raising the nation’s spirits at a difficult time.
The Member of the Senedd for Aberconwy spoke of the fantastic achievement of Wales qualifying for the World Cup for the first time in 64 years.
It comes as Wales begin their journey back home following the conclusion of their 2022 World Cup campaign.
Speaking after the result, Janet said:
“I’d like to pay a huge tribute to the whole of Team Wales for all the effort that has been made in this World Cup.
“Against a difficult backdrop, the beautiful game has brought communities together in a great celebration of national spirit.
“I’m delighted to see the joy and passion that the World Cup has brought out in the public, and particularly the number of young people who have been inspired to take up football and other sports.
“Of course, while the result was not the one we had hoped for, we can still be incredibly proud that we have got this far.
“To players and supporters right across Wales: a huge thank you to you all”.

Roedd yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy yn sôn am gamp ragorol Cymru yn cyrraedd rowndiau terfynol Cwpan y Byd am y tro cyntaf ers 64 mlynedd.
Daw hyn wrth i Gymry deithio yn ôl adref ar ôl i’w hymgyrch Cwpan y Byd 2022 ddod i ben.
Yn siarad ar ôl y canlyniad, dywedodd Janet:
“Hoffwn dalu teyrnged i holl dîm Cymru am eu hymdrech yn ystod Cwpan y Byd.
“Mewn sefyllfa anodd, mae’r gêm brydferth wedi dod â chymunedau at ei gilydd mewn dathliad gwych o ysbryd y genedl.
“Rwy’n falch iawn gweld yr hwyl a’r angerdd a ddaeth i’r cyhoedd yn sgil Cwpan y Byd, ac yn enwedig nifer y bobl ifanc sydd wedi’u hysbrydoli i chwarae pêl-droed a champau eraill.
“Yn amlwg, er nad oedd y canlyniadau cystal â’r gobaith, gallwn fod yn falch iawn ein bod wedi dod mor bell.
“I chwaraewyr a chefnogwyr ledled Cymru, diolch o galon i chi i gyd.”
