During a recent visit to National Trust’s Ty Mawr Wybrnant site, located in Penmachno, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, Janet Finch-Saunders planted two trees at the birthplace of Bishop William Morgan, the man who translated the Bible to Welsh.

Commenting on the news Janet said:

“I was thrilled to recently meet with Trystan Edwards, National Trust General Manager for Snowdonia & Orme, Mr Andrew Roberts, Lead Ranger for Snowdonia & Orme and with Ms Lowri Rees, External Affairs consultant for the National Trust, to review the continued good work of the organisation at Ty Mawr Wybrnant.

“It was an honour to plant two trees at the birthplace of Bishop Williams Morgan, the individual who translated the Bible into Welsh. His work created a standard version of written Welsh for the first time, and therefore continued to have an impact on everyday life in Wales today.

I hope that the trees I have planted help bring even more life and colour to a place which played a key role in shaping the Wales and Welsh of today.

Yn ystod ymweliad diweddar â safle Tŷ Mawr Wybrnant yr Ymddiriedolaeth Genedlaethol ym Mhenmachno, plannodd Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, ddwy goeden ym man geni’r Archesgob William Morgan, y gŵr a gyfieithodd y Beibl i’r Gymraeg.

Yn rhoi sylwadau ar y newyddion, dywedodd Janet:

“Roeddwn i’n falch iawn o gael cyfarfod Trystan Edwards, Rheolwr Cyffredinol yr Ymddiriedolaeth Genedlaethol Eryri a’r Gogarth, Mr Andrew Roberts, Prif Barcmon Eryri a’r Gogarth a Ms Lowri Rees, ymgynghorydd Materion Allanol yr Ymddiriedolaeth Genedlaethol, i adolygu gwaith da parhaus y sefydliad yn Nhŷ Mawr Wybrnant.

“Roedd hi’n fraint plannu dwy goeden ym man geni’r Archesgob William Morgan, a gyfieithodd y Beibl i’r Gymraeg. Diolch i’w waith diflino, cafwyd fersiwn safonol o Gymraeg ysgrifenedig am y tro cyntaf, ac o’r herwydd mae’n parhau i ddylanwadu ar fywyd bob dydd yng Nghymru hyd heddiw.

Gobeithio y bydd y coed rwyf wedi’u plannu yn helpu i ddod â mwy o fywyd a lliw i fan a wnaeth gyfraniad allweddol at siapio’r Gymru bresennol a’r iaith Gymraeg.
