Changes have been introduced to traffic management on Menai Bridge, with the previous tidal-flow system now removed and replaced by two-way traffic lights.
The decision follows reports of unacceptable abuse being directed at operatives responsible for overseeing the tidal flow system. As a result, the system has been withdrawn. Traffic management is necessary while plant is stored on the bridge to enable the installation of the underdeck platforms.
Janet Finch-Saunders, Senedd Member for Aberconwy said:
“There is absolutely no excuse for abuse directed at workers who are simply doing their jobs. Everyone deserves to feel safe at work, and this behaviour is completely unacceptable.
While I understand the frustrations that traffic disruption can cause, it is important that these essential works are carried out safely and efficiently.
I would urge everyone to show respect to those on site as this project continues.”
