Over the weekend the 80th anniversary of VE Day commemorations continued across the country. In Llandudno, a parade along the promenade took place, followed by an emotional service at the war memorial.
Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, was honoured to attend at take part in the commemorations, along with Claire Hughes MP for Bangor Aberconwy, and other civic dignitaries, by laying a wreath.
This was a prominent moment and celebration which encourages people to reflect on the freedoms we have today and the sacrifices that so many people have made to ensure that they are preserved.
Commenting on the parade and war memorial service, Janet said:
“It was an honour to take part in the parade along Llandudno promenade and the wonderful service held at the war memorial.
“It was a moving occasion and even more so seeing the cadet force and other armed forces representatives, as it reminds us that even today, people are putting their own lives at risk to ensure that we are protected and maintain the freedom that we all enjoy.
“VE Day and other anniversaries are a fantastic way for us to all reflect and to thank those who served and as well as those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Second World War.
“I would also like to thank all of those who organised and made the parade and the service such a wonderful and impactful event”.
