There is major disruption to train services linking North Wales to the Welsh capital, Cardiff.

Reduced and cancelled Transport for Wales service to / from Cardiff Central are expected until the end of the day on Sunday 27 April.

The routes affected are between Holyhead / Crewe / Cheltenham Spa and Cardiff Central, between Manchester Piccadilly and Cardiff Central / Swansea / Carmarthen / Milford Haven / Fishguard Harbour, between Cardiff Central and Ebbw Vale Town / Cardiff Bay / Pontypridd / Merthyr Tydfil / Aberdare / Treherbert / Swansea / Llanelli / Pembroke Dock / Milford Haven, between Barry Island and Caerphilly, and also between Penarth and Cardiff Queen Street

Commenting on the train chaos between North and South Wales, Janet Finch-Saunders MS, said:

“There is no doubt that repairs have to be undertaken, but the chaos caused to residents and visitors trying to travel between North and South Wales is extraordinary.

“National Rail Enquiries is showing almost all trains between Llandudno Junction and Cardiff Central as cancelled.

“I know of one resident who is having to catch 5 different trains to reach the Welsh capital today, instead of the usual 1.

“The situation is a nightmare, especially at the end of the Easter break when thousands will be trying  to enjoy a last minute get away, or travel home for the start of the new school term.

“I encourage everyone intending on catching a train this weekend to check if the journey is still possible”.

ENDS

Mae tarfu mawr ar wasanaethau trenau sy'n cysylltu’r Gogledd â’r brifddinas, Caerdydd.

Disgwylir llai o drenau gan Trafnidiaeth Cymru i / o orsaf Caerdydd Canolog ac y bydd trenau’n cael eu canslo tan ddiwedd y dydd ddydd Sul 27 Ebrill.

Mae'r llwybrau yr effeithir arnynt rhwng Caergybi / Crewe / Sba Cheltenham a Chaerdydd Canolog, rhwng Piccadilly Manceinion a Chaerdydd Canolog / Abertawe / Caerfyrddin / Aberdaugleddau / Harbwr Abergwaun, rhwng Canol Caerdydd a Thref Glynebwy / Bae Caerdydd / Pontypridd / Merthyr Tudful / Aberdâr / Treherbert / Abertawe / Llanelli / Doc Penfro / Aberdaugleddau, rhwng Ynys y Barri a Chaerffili, a hefyd rhwng Penarth a Chaerdydd Heol y Frenhines

Wrth sôn am yr anhrefn gyda’r trenau rhwng y Gogledd a’r De, dywedodd Janet Finch-Saunders AS:

"Does dim amheuaeth bod angen gwneud gwaith atgyweirio, ond mae'r anhrefn a achosir i drigolion ac ymwelwyr sy'n ceisio teithio rhwng y Gogledd a’r De yn anhygoel.
"Mae Ymholiadau Rheilffyrdd Cenedlaethol yn dangos bod bron pob trên rhwng Cyffordd Llandudno a Chaerdydd Canolog wedi'i ganslo.
"Rwy'n gwybod am un preswylydd sy'n gorfod dal 5 trên gwahanol i gyrraedd prifddinas Cymru heddiw, yn hytrach na'r 1 arferol.
"Mae'r sefyllfa'n hunllef, yn enwedig ar ddiwedd gwyliau'r Pasg pan fydd miloedd yn ceisio mwynhau seibiant munud olaf, neu deithio adref ar gyfer dechrau'r tymor ysgol newydd.
"Rwy'n annog pawb sy'n bwriadu dal trên y penwythnos hwn i wirio a yw'r daith dal yn bosibl".
