Yesterday, Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Senedd for Bangor, Conwy Môn, spoke in the Senedd Chamber about the importance of pupils with additional learning needs having access to the correct support at the right time.
The National Association of Head Teachers has noted that how the allocated £60 million in funding is distributed matters. It should be based on actual learner need, rather than simply on school size.
Janet commented:
“It is essential to recognise that teachers, teaching assistants and specialists work tirelessly, and all their hard work should rightly be championed. However, their dedication cannot fill vacancies or balance a school budget.
“We need to ensure that our schools receive the appropriate funding to meet the needs of pupils and are in a position to provide children with ALN with the support they need.
“No child should be left behind. We must do all that we can to ensure that every child has access to a good education and the support they need in order to thrive.”
