Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has spoken of her delight that The Rt Hon Elizabeth Truss MP has been elected as Leader of the Conservative Party, and our next Prime Minister.
Commenting on the result of the leadership contest, Janet said:
“I have been proud to support Liz’s campaign to become the leader of the Conservative Party and the United Kingdom.
“She has a strong record of delivery, and significant achievements such as playing key roles in the signing of over 60 trade deals, bringing Mrs Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe home from Iran, and taking action to prevent the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement being undermined.
“Her record provides solid ground upon which we can believe that she is well placed to deliver as Prime Minister and improve confidence in Westminster.
“Liz has already promised to deliver a cost-of-living plan in a week, which needs to provide much needed support for residents and businesses.
“I am sure that we can all agree that Liz Truss has been handed the toughest job in Britain. I am confident that she will keep to her promises and work tirelessly to tackle the challenges of our time”.

“Mae ei record yn darparu'r seiliau cadarn sy'n ei rhoi mewn sefyllfa dda i gyflawni fel Prif Weinidog a gwella hyder yn San Steffan.
“Mae Liz eisoes wedi addo cyflwyno cynllun costau byw mewn wythnos, a fydd yn cynnig cymorth angenrheidiol, mawr ei angen i drigolion a busnesau.
“Rwy'n siŵr y gallwn ni i gyd gytuno mai Liz Truss sydd â’r swydd anoddaf ym Mhrydain. Rwy'n ffyddiog y bydd hi'n cadw at ei haddewidion ac yn gweithio'n ddiflino i fynd i'r afael â heriau mawr ein hoes".
