Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy is shocked to learn that BBC Wales Investigates has unearthed that the company that partly funded Vaughan Gething's MS successful campaign to become Wales’s First Minister was connected to a criminal investigation at the time.
Natural Resources Wales is again conducting a criminal investigation into suspected environmental offences by one of Mr. Neal's firms, Resources Management Limited.
This follows on from two previous convictions for environmental offences in 2013 and 2017, where Mr Neal was given suspended sentences on both occasions.
Commenting on the news, Janet said:
“The more we hear about this story, the more it stinks. It has now snowballed into a complete distraction for the First Minister and clearly illustrates his utter lack of judgement as a leader.
“I am also astonished to learn that that the First Minister declined to give back the money, even after a senior Welsh Labour figure offered to lend him the money to do so.
“It speaks to the First Minister’s arrogance that he thinks it acceptable to take such vast amounts of money for a political campaign from not only someone convicted of environmental offences but from a company under criminal investigation at the time.
“Is this a person befitting of high office? I think not. This is why the Welsh Conservatives have tabled a motion of no-confidence in the First Minister this week, and why all opposition parties are supporting us in this.
“It is time to rid the Welsh Government of this stink, so that we can focus on the people’s priorities”.

Wrth sôn am y newyddion, dywedodd Janet:

"Rwyf hefyd wedi synnu clywed bod y Prif Weinidog wedi gwrthod dychwelyd yr arian, hyd yn oed ar ôl i uwch ffigwr yn Llafur Cymru gynnig benthyg yr arian iddo i wneud hynny.
"Mae'n dangos haerllugrwydd y Prif Weinidog ei fod yn credu ei bod yn dderbyniol cymryd symiau mor sylweddol o arian ar gyfer ymgyrch wleidyddol gan nid yn unig rhywun a gafwyd yn euog o droseddau amgylcheddol ond gan gwmni sy'n destun ymchwiliad troseddol ar y pryd.
"Ydy’r person yma’n deilwng o’r uchel swydd hon? Dwi ddim yn meddwl. Dyna pam mae'r Ceidwadwyr Cymreig wedi cyflwyno cynnig o ddiffyg hyder yn y Prif Weinidog yr wythnos hon, a pham mae pob gwrthblaid yn ein cefnogi.
"Mae'n bryd achub Llywodraeth Cymru o'r drewdod hwn, fel y gallwn ni ganolbwyntio ar flaenoriaethau'r bobl".
