Janet Finch-Saunders MS has taken the Welsh Government to task regarding the unsafe conditions of buildings owned by Betsi Cadwalladr University Health Board.

The Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy highlighted the shocking figures, which show that only 74% of the buildings owned by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board comply with statutory health and safety requirements.

Only 64% comply with relevant statutory fire safety requirements, and only 62% are deemed to be operationally safe.

Speaking in the Senedd, Janet said:

“This appalling situation is terrifying for my constituents.

“At Ysbyty Gwynedd, the design and layout presents infection prevention and control risks.

“Ysbyty Glan Clwyd has a maintenance backlog of £37 million;

“And Bryn y Neuadd in Llanfairfechan has a backlog of £27.7 million, and 70% of occupied floor area recorded as ‘not functionally suitable’.

“The Health Board’s Estate Strategy states: ‘physical condition and statutory compliance of the estate has got worse since the 2019 Estate Strategy’.

“Whilst I would like clarity as to what financial assistance the Welsh Government will be providing to assist the Health Board with the cost of the improvements needed, heads should role for this dangerous management failure”.

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders AS wedi dwyn Llywodraeth Cymru i gyfrif ynghylch amodau anniogel yr adeiladau sy'n eiddo i Fwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Betsi Cadwaladr.

Fe wnaeth yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy dynnu sylw at y ffigurau brawychus, sy'n dangos mai dim ond 74% o'r adeiladau sy'n eiddo i Fwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Betsi Cadwaladr sy'n cydymffurfio â'r gofynion iechyd a diogelwch statudol.

Dim ond 64% sy'n cydymffurfio â'r gofynion statudol, perthnasol ar gyfer diogelwch tân, a dim ond 62% yr ystyrir eu bod yn weithredol ddiogel.

Wrth siarad yn y Senedd, dywedodd Janet:

“Mae'r sefyllfa warthus hon yn frawychus i fy etholwyr.

“Yn Ysbyty Gwynedd, mae'r dyluniad a'r cynllun yn peri risg o ran atal a rheoli heintiau.

“Mae gan Ysbyty Glan Clwyd ôl-groniad cynnal a chadw o £37 miliwn;

“Ac mae gan Bryn y Neuadd yn Llanfairfechan ôl-groniad o £27.7 miliwn, a chofnodwyd nad yw 70% o'r adeilad a ddefnyddir yn ymarferol addas’.

“Mae Strategaeth yr Ystad y Bwrdd Iechyd yn datgan: ‘mae cyflwr ffisegol a chydymffurfiaeth statudol yr ystâd wedi gwaethygu ers Strategaeth yr Ystad 2019’.

“Er y byddwn i'n hoffi eglurhad o ran pa gymorth ariannol y bydd Llywodraeth Cymru yn ei ddarparu i gynorthwyo'r Bwrdd Iechyd gyda chost y gwelliannau sydd eu hangen, mae angen dwyn rheolwyr i gyfrif am y methiant peryglus hwn”.
