Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Bangor, Conwy and Môn, has reiterated her opposition to the proposed plans for an AI data centre on the Menai Strait between Felinheli and Caernarfon.
This development would include a data centre building, back-up generators, associated plant and equipment, and a substation.
Janet commented:
“I am deeply concerned about the proposed AI data centre. It will have a significant impact on the local water supply, pollution levels, the amount of energy required to operate the centre, air quality, and potentially the surrounding wildlife and ecosystems.
She added:
“Many residents have contacted me to express their opposition, raising environmental concerns and highlighting the potential consequences for the surrounding area and local businesses, particularly given the scale of one of the buildings.
Janet continued:
“I have written to the Cabinet Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning, urging her to ensure that these plans are rejected and that our communities and environment are protected. I highly encourage residents who share these concerns to write to Cyngor Gwynedd and object to these plans.”
