On Sunday, a fire broke out near the Conwy Mountain and in Sychnant Pass, which led to 36 homes being evacuated, with one family noting that the fire had reached their driveway, and 200 acres of land being affected.
Janet Finch-Saunders MS, Member of the Senedd for Bangor, Conwy and Môn, has praised the fast response of North Wales Fire and Rescue, residents in evacuating, and locals who were seeing if they were able to help.
Janet commented:
“I would like to thank North Wales Fire and Rescue Service for their incredibly fast response and professionalism. Their swift actions, along with the cooperation of residents who evacuated quickly and safely, helped prevent what could have been a much more serious incident. I also want to thank the local residents who stepped in to offer help and support during the emergency.
“This incident is a timely reminder for everyone to remain extra cautious, especially during periods of hot weather. Dry conditions can allow fires to spread rapidly, and everyday activities can unintentionally spark a fire, leading to significant damage and putting lives at risk. By staying vigilant and taking simple precautions, we can all help protect our communities.”
