Temperatures across Wales have reached highs of more than 30°C and, combined with the Whitsun half-term holiday, beaches have seen a significant increase in visitors enjoying everything Bangor, Conwy Môn have to offer.
Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament, for Bangor Conwy Môn, has called on Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water to ensure it is taking the necessary steps to prevent water pollution incidents this summer.
Janet commented:
“Only last year, we saw 13 pollution alerts issued for West Shore Beach in just five weeks, alongside countless other incidents highlighted by Surfers Against Sewage.
“It is vital that water companies, including Dŵr Cymru, take immediate action to ensure these incidents do not reoccur this year. Our constituency is home to many wonderful beaches that attract both locals and visitors, all looking forward to enjoying our coastline and bathing safely in our waters.
“A busy summer season also provides an important boost to local seafront businesses, which benefit greatly from the increase in visitors to our beaches.”
