This Saturday will mark, Small Business Saturday, an annual campaign that encourages people to shop at their local small businesses, often on our high streets. It is also important that we use dates like this to remember the vital role that small and medium-sized businesses play in the Welsh economy.

Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, commented:

“In Wales, it is estimated that 248,000 enterprises are currently active, employing around 1.2 million people. Yet 99.3% of our enterprises are SMEs that employ between 0 and 249 people.

“These small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and I am always delighted to visit them both in my role as a Member of the Welsh Parliament and as a local resident. These businesses offer a unique perspective and an experience that is unmatched when compared to larger businesses. I also love getting to know the wonderful backstories behind each of these ventures, as it really adds to the personal touch that they provide.

“The Welsh Conservatives recognise the wonderful contribution that these small businesses make to our high streets, our economy, and our communities. These businesses should be celebrated and supported. It is for this reason that we have pledged to scrap business rates for small businesses.

“I highly encourage everyone to visit their local small businesses, especially in the lead-up to the Christmas season.”

Mae'n Ddydd Sadwrn y Busnesau Bach y penwythnos hwn, sef ymgyrch flynyddol sy'n annog pobl i siopa yn eu busnesau bach lleol, sydd wedi'u lleoli ar y stryd fawr yn aml iawn. Mae hefyd yn bwysig ein bod ni'n defnyddio dyddiadau fel hyn i gofio cyfraniad hanfodol busnesau bach a chanolig i economi Cymru.

Dywedodd Janet Finch-Saunders, AS Aberconwy:

“Yng Nghymru, amcangyfrifir bod 248,000 o fentrau ar waith ar hyn o bryd, sy'n cyflogi tua 1.2 miliwn o bobl. Ac eto mae 99.3% o'n mentrau yn fusnesau bach a chanolig sy'n cyflogi rhwng 0 a 249 o bobl.

Y busnesau bach hyn yw asgwrn cefn ein heconomi, a dwi bob amser yn hapus iawn o gael ymweld â nhw yn fy rôl fel Aelod o'r Senedd ac un o drigolion yr ardal. Mae'r busnesau hyn yn cynnig persbectif unigryw a phrofiad sydd heb ei ail o'i gymharu â busnesau mwy. Dwi wrth fy modd yn dysgu am y straeon cefndir gwych y tu ôl i bob un fenter, gan ei fod yn ychwanegu at yr elfen bersonol mae’r busnesau hyn yn ei chynnig.

“Mae'r Ceidwadwyr Cymreig yn cydnabod cyfraniad gwych y busnesau bach hyn i'r stryd fawr, ein heconomi, a'n cymunedau. Dylid dathlu a chefnogi'r busnesau hyn. Dyna pam rydyn ni wedi addo sgrapio ardrethi busnes ar gyfer busnesau bach.

“Da chi, ewch i siopa gyda’ch busnesau bach lleol, yn enwedig dros dymor y Nadolig.”
