One in six organisations in the UK use at least one AI technology, with the UK AI market worth more than £72 billion in 2024. While this technology is progressive and useful, greater care must be taken when using the information it provides.
Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has urged people to fact-check the information provided, commenting:
“AI is becoming widely used in all professions and in people’s day-to-day lives, acting as a useful means of brainstorming, generating images, and finding information.
“However, we must all do our best to use discernment and fact-check the information being provided. I have previously spoken in the Senedd about fake AI-generated case law citations being used, which should have been checked and verified before being relied upon by the lawyers.
“Yet, even today, the Chief Executive of Google’s parent company Alphabet, Sundar Pichai, has stated that AI models are prone to errors and urged people to use them alongside other tools.
“As AI becomes more integrated into our daily lives, it is important that we always double-check the information being provided.”
