Over the weekend, Storm Claudia hit Wales and other parts of the UK, bringing significant rainfall that caused flooding in areas such as Monmouth. Emergency services worked throughout the weekend to warn and support people who were affected by the flooding.
Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy and the Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Climate Change and the Environment, commented:
“My thoughts are with those whose homes, businesses, and livelihoods were impacted and damaged by flooding over the weekend. This is an extremely devastating time, and I encourage those who are struggling to speak out and seek assistance.
“I would also like to thank our emergency services for how they responded to Storm Claudia. Members of South Wales Police went door to door, warning people of the risk of flooding and providing them with emergency information.
“As we continue to rebuild after the storm, we must come together to support our communities and continue calling for increased preparedness for future severe weather events like this.”
