This Sunday marked Trafalgar Sunday, which celebrates the victory of Lord Nelson’s fleet over the combined Spanish and French forces at the Battle of Trafalgar. It also offers us an opportunity to remember those who lost their lives at sea during times of war and peace.
Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, attended the parade and noted:
“I was delighted to attend the Trafalgar Sunday Commemorative event. It was a beautiful service with a brilliant turnout.
“I would like to thank all those involved in organising and ensuring that this poignant event ran so successfully. The amount of time and effort that went into organising it was clear to see.
“It is important that we use commemoration events like this to remember the vital role the Maritime Forces play in our nation’s security, as well as to honour all the brave servicemen and women who have lost their lives at sea protecting the freedoms we enjoy. We must also extend our gratitude to those currently serving.”
