Conwy County Borough Council had since 19 May 2025 to Prepare for Deganwy Road Closure/Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy wedi cael ers 19 Mai 2025 i baratoi ar gyfer cau ffordd yn Neganw

Deganwy

With Station Road, Deganwy, closed to all traffic between 2 September 2025 and 21 November 2025, it has been disclosed that Conwy County Borough Council received a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) application for the works on 19 May 2025.

Commenting after being informed that the Local Authority first knew of the proposed closure over three months in advance, Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has highlighted her disappointment as to how poorly the Local Authority and Wales & West had prepared the community for the sever disruption.

Commenting on the situation, Janet said:

“Locals told they can park on yellow lines; Conwy County Council fining drivers for parking on yellow lines; Arriva Buses Wales having no diversion plans in place until the night before; Wales & West Utilities having as few as two or three contractors on site some days; and visitors given the wrong impression from Llandudno Junction and Llandudno that Deganwy is completely closed.

“If this was emergency works undertaken with little warning it may be easier to understand why so many problems are arising. However, it transpires that Wales & West applied for the road closure order on 19 May, so over 3 months in advance.

“Several local residents and businesses feel badly let down by Conwy County Council and Wales & West.

“If you want a perfect example as to how not to run an infrastructure project, look at the gas works in Deganwy.”

Gyda Heol yr Orsaf, Deganwy, ar gau i'r holl draffig rhwng 2 Medi 2025 a 21 Tachwedd 2025, datgelwyd bod Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy wedi derbyn cais am Orchymyn Rheoleiddio Traffig Dros Dro (TTRO) ar gyfer y gwaith ar 19 Mai 2025.

Ar ôl cael gwybod bod yr Awdurdod Lleol yn ymwybodol o’r bwriad i gau dros dri mis ymlaen llaw, mae Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, wedi tynnu sylw at ei siom ynghylch diffygion difrifol yr Awdurdod Lleol a Wales & West i baratoi'r gymuned at y tarfu difrifol.

Gan gyfeirio at y sefyllfa, dywedodd Janet:

"Pobl leol yn cael gwybod y gallent barcio ar linellau melyn; Cyngor Sir Conwy yn dirwyo gyrwyr am barcio ar linellau melyn; dim cynlluniau dargyfeirio gan Fysiau Arriva Cymru ar waith tan y noson gynt; cyn lleied â dau neu dri chontractwr ar y safle rai dyddiau gan Wales & West Utilities; ac ymwelwyr yn cael yr argraff anghywir o gyfeiriad Cyffordd Llandudno a Llandudno bod Deganwy ar gau'n llwyr.

"Pe bai hwn yn waith brys a wnaed heb fawr o rybudd, efallai y byddai'n haws deall pam i gymaint o broblemau godi. Fodd bynnag, mae'n amlwg bod Wales & West wedi gwneud cais am y gorchymyn cau ffyrdd ar 19 Mai, felly dros 3 mis ymlaen llaw.

"Mae nifer o drigolion a busnesau lleol yn teimlo fod Cyngor Sir Conwy a Wales & West wedi’u methu’n ddifrifol.

"Os ydych chi eisiau enghraifft berffaith o sut i beidio â rhedeg prosiect seilwaith, cymerwch olwg ar y gwaith nwy yn Neganwy."
