Conwy County Borough Council Urged to Cancel all Parking Fines issued in Deganwy

With Station Road, Deganwy, closed to all traffic between 2 September 2025 and 21 November 2025, Conwy County Borough Council have been urged to cancel all parking fines issued and stop all parking enforcement in Deganwy whilst the work are ongoing.

The calls come as local business owners, their staff, and customers have received parking tickets from Conwy County Council. This is despite Wales and West Utilities allegedly having informed numerous locals that they could park on yellow lines whilst the road was closed.

Commenting on the situation, Janet said:

“If you want a perfect example as to how NOT to run an infrastructure project, look at the gas works in Deganwy.

“To start with Arriva Buses Wales had not made any arrangements for diversions until my urgent intervention the evening before the work; Wales & West contractors have been finishing early and waiting around for concrete; and now Conwy County Borough Council have started issuing parking tickets to those parked on yellow lines!

“Business owners, their employees, and customers of shops in Deganwy have been in touch with me explaining that Wales and West had advised that they could park on the yellow lines during the road closure.

“I have now sent a second letter to the Local Authority urging them to cancel all fines, and keep enforcement officers away from Deganwy whilst this scheme is ongoing. That they were sent there in the first place shows terrible judgement”.
