Last week, the Rotary Club of Llandudno held an important community meeting, during which they highlighted that 16 out of Llandudno’s 65 defibrillators are currently out of use.
This is a deeply concerning issue, as residents should rightly expect that active, in-date, and usable defibrillators are available in case of an emergency.
The Rotary Club has put a fantastic plan in place to coordinate volunteers to carry out regular inspections of these 16 defibrillators and aims to increase the number available 24/7. Yet, this is only one of the many ways the club is supporting the health and well-being of residents.
Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, praised the Rotary Club and its members for raising these vital matters and for all the wonderful work they do to support the residents of Llandudno.
Commenting on the defibrillators, Janet said:
“It was concerning to learn that 16 defibrillators in Llandudno were out of use. As an amazing place to live, as well as being a prime tourism destination, it is vital that we have as many in-date and active defibrillators available as possible, as these devices can save lives in the event of a cardiac emergency.
“I would like to sincerely extend my gratitude to Sarah Lesiter-Burgess, the Club’s President, and all of the members for putting in place the plan that will ensure these life-saving devices are in date and in working order. I would also like to thank them for all the wonderful work they do to support the physical and mental health of young residents in Llandudno. This important work should rightly be recognised and celebrated.”

Yr wythnos diwethaf, cynhaliodd Clwb Rotari Llandudno gyfarfod cymunedol pwysig, lle tynnwyd sylw at y ffaith nad yw 16 o'r 65 diffibriliwr yn Llandudno yn gweithio ar hyn o bryd.
Mae hwn yn achos pryder mawr, gan y dylai trigolion ddisgwyl bod diffibrilwyr sy’n gweithio’n iawn ar gael mewn argyfwng.
Mae'r Clwb Rotari wedi rhoi cynllun gwych ar waith i gydlynu gwirfoddolwyr i gynnal archwiliadau rheolaidd o'r 16 diffibriliwr hyn, a'i nod yw cynyddu'r nifer sydd ar gael drwy’r dydd, bob dydd. Eto, dim ond un o'r nifer o ffyrdd mae'r clwb yn cefnogi iechyd a lles trigolion yw hyn.
Fe wnaeth Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, ganmol y Clwb Rotari a'i aelodau am godi'r materion hanfodol hyn ac am yr holl waith gwych maen nhw’n ei wneud i gefnogi trigolion Llandudno.
Wrth sôn am y diffibrilwyr, dywedodd Janet:
"Roedd hi’n bryderus clywed nad yw 16 o ddiffibrilwyr Llandudno yn gweithio’n iawn. Fel lle anhygoel i fyw ac sy’n denu llu o dwristiaid, mae'n hanfodol bod gennym ni gymaint o ddiffibrilwyr â phosibl, a bod y rheini’n gweithio’n iawn, gan y gall y dyfeisiau hyn achub bywydau mewn achos o argyfwng cardiaidd.
"Hoffwn ddiolch o galon i Sarah Lesiter-Burgess, Llywydd y Clwb, a'r holl aelodau am roi'r cynllun ar waith a fydd yn sicrhau bod y dyfeisiau hyn yn gweithio’n iawn. Hoffwn hefyd ddiolch iddyn nhw am yr holl waith gwych maen nhw'n ei wneud i gefnogi iechyd corfforol a meddyliol trigolion ifanc Llandudno. Dylai'r gwaith pwysig hwn gael ei gydnabod a'i ddathlu."
