With the news that the post office in Tal-y-Bont is for sale, and could be closing, Janet Finch-Saunders MS/AS has worked with the Post Office to develop a plan to be implemented should the service in the village cease.

Responding to concerns raised by Mrs Finch-Saunders, the Post Office said:

“We have been advised that the temporary postmaster at Tal y Bont Post Office can stay on at the current premises until Christmas. We have also been exploring whether the mobile service can be provided when the temporary post office ceases, and the postmaster providing the mobile service is happy to stop at Tal y Bont. Nearer the time we will confirm the arrangements for the branch and share this with you and the local community.”

Commenting on the importance of the Post Office to the community:

“The Post Office in Tal-y-Bont is at the heart of the community. I wish to thank the postmaster for the incredible service he has provided to residents and visitors.

“Given the importance of the store, we cannot reach a situation where there is no service.

“Having raised urgent concerns with the Post Office, I welcome the fact that a plan is now in place to keep the premises open until Christmas, and should that cease, expand the mobile service to the village.”
