Almost 90% of Welsh Gov Staff not in Llandudno Junction office Despite it Being their Base / Bron i 90% o staff Llywodraeth Cymru ddim yn gweithio yn swyddfa Cyffordd Llandudno, er mai dyma eu prif swyddfa

Only 12% of Welsh Government staff assigned to the Llandudno Junction headquarters attend the office on some working days.

The shocking finding that only as little as 41 members of staff, 12%, of those assigned to work at the Sarn Mynach, work in the actual office has been disclosed by Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy.

The local Member, who has been a long term critic of the ineffective use of the building, has highlighted again how the space should be made available for private businesses.

The complex cost around £23 million of tax payers’ pounds to build.

Commenting, Janet said:

“The Welsh Government headquarters in Llandudno Junction has been a complete waste of money.

“It cost over £20m to build and I understand is taking around £2m to run annually.

“With almost 90% of staff assigned to the office not present on some working days, there is an urgent need to review how the building is used.

“We know that Llandudno Junction is a key economic hub and that businesses are looking for office space on a regular basis.  The Welsh Government should act on that demand and allow businesses to make use of some of the underused space at the headquarters.”

ENDS

Dim ond 12% o staff Llywodraeth Cymru sydd i fod i weithio ym mhencadlys Cyffordd Llandudno sy'n mynd i'r swyddfa ar rai diwrnodau gwaith.

Mae'r canfyddiad syfrdanol mai dim ond 41 aelod o staff, 12%, o'r rhai sydd i fod i weithio yn swyddfa Sarn Mynach sy'n mynd yno go iawn wedi cael ei ddatgelu gan Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy.

Mae'r Aelod lleol, sydd wedi bod yn feirniadol ers cryn amser o'r defnydd aneffeithiol o'r adeilad, wedi tynnu sylw eto at sut y dylai'r lle fod ar gael i fusnesau preifat.

Costiodd yr adeilad tua £23 miliwn o arian trethdalwyr i'w adeiladu.

Meddai Janet:

"Mae pencadlys Llywodraeth Cymru yng Nghyffordd Llandudno wedi bod yn wastraff arian llwyr.

"Costiodd dros £20m i'w adeiladu ac rwy'n deall ei fod yn costio tua £2m i'w gynnal bob blwyddyn.

"Gyda bron i 90% o'r staff sydd i fod i weithio yn y swyddfa ddim yn mynd yno ar rai diwrnodau gwaith, mae angen mynd ati ar unwaith i adolygu sut mae'r adeilad yn cael ei ddefnyddio.

"Rydyn ni'n gwybod bod Cyffordd Llandudno yn ganolfan economaidd allweddol a bod busnesau'n chwilio am ofod swyddfa yn rheolaidd. Dylai Llywodraeth Cymru weithredu ar y galw hwnnw a chaniatáu i fusnesau ddefnyddio rhywfaint o'r lle segur yn y pencadlys."
