On 9th July, the Planning Committee at Conwy County Borough Council reaffirmed that it is minded to grant conditional planning permission for six new antennas on two steel frames, along with an electric meter cabinet, an equipment cabinet, two transmission dishes, and associated equipment, including remote radio units, to be installed on top of Venue Cymru.
These antennas will improve connectivity in Llandudno, enabling locals to enjoy better signal strength, helping visitors stay in touch with their families, and allowing businesses to use payment methods that require a reliable connection.
Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, who has been actively campaigning for approval of this application, has welcomed the decision.
Commenting on the Venue Cymru application being given permission, Janet said:
“The current signal and connectivity in Llandudno is shocking. Locals and visitors alike struggle to contact relatives, and businesses are often unable to use card machines, leaving them unable to take payments. This situation is completely unacceptable, and the masts now receiving conditional planning permission will help to resolve these issues.
“I would like to thank everyone who has supported my campaign for this installation, and I am delighted that the Planning Committee has reaffirmed its decision, which will help bring Llandudno into the 21st century.”
and benefit residents, businesses, and visitors alike.”

Ar 9 Gorffennaf, ailddatganodd y Pwyllgor Cynllunio yng Nghyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy ei fod yn bwriadu rhoi caniatâd cynllunio amodol ar gyfer chwe antena newydd ar ddwy ffrâm ddur, ynghyd â chabinet mesurydd trydan, cabinet offer, dwy ddysgl drosglwyddo, ac offer cysylltiedig, gan gynnwys unedau radio o bell, i'w gosod ar ben Venue Cymru.
Bydd yr antenau hyn yn gwella cysylltedd yn Llandudno, gan alluogi pobl leol i fwynhau gwell cryfder signal, helpu ymwelwyr i gadw mewn cysylltiad â'u teuluoedd, a chaniatáu i fusnesau ddefnyddio dulliau talu sy'n gofyn am gysylltiad dibynadwy.
Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, sydd wedi bod yn ymgyrchu'n weithredol dros gymeradwyo'r cais hwn, wedi croesawu'r penderfyniad.
Wrth sôn am gael caniatâd i gais Venue Cymru, dywedodd Janet:
"Mae'r signal a'r cysylltedd presennol yn Llandudno yn warthus. Mae pobl leol ac ymwelwyr fel ei gilydd yn cael trafferth cysylltu â pherthnasau, ac nid yw busnesau yn aml yn gallu defnyddio peiriannau cardiau, gan eu gadael yn methu â derbyn taliadau. Mae'r sefyllfa hon yn gwbl annerbyniol, a bydd y mastiau sydd bellach yn derbyn caniatâd cynllunio amodol yn helpu i ddatrys y problemau hyn.
"Hoffwn ddiolch i bawb sydd wedi cefnogi fy ymgyrch dros y gosodiad hwn, ac rwy'n falch iawn bod y Pwyllgor Cynllunio wedi ailddatgan ei benderfyniad, a fydd yn helpu i ddod â Llandudno i'r 21ain ganrif ac o fudd i drigolion, busnesau ac ymwelwyr fel ei gilydd."
