Blood Bikes Wales work with six NHS trusts in Wales, aiming to provide a reliable, free, high-quality service to health boards. The Blood Bikes Wales team are all volunteers who use their skills, time, and enthusiasm to support the NHS.

Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, had the opportunity at this year’s Eglwysbach Show to catch up with some of these dedicated volunteers and to learn more about their current work, as well as some of their brilliant current and former members.

Commenting on her meeting with Blood Bikes Wales, Janet said:

“It was brilliant to catch up with Blood Bikes Wales at this year’s Eglwysbach Show. Events like this enable them to promote the vital work they do, work for which we should all be truly grateful.

This organisation not only saves the local health service around £500,000 annually, but more importantly, it saves countless lives every year.

I was honoured to sit on the bike named Selwyn and to hear the story behind its name. Selwyn was a rider who sadly passed away while carrying out his duties. Tragically, another rider lost their life just last month in a crash in Pembrokeshire. My thoughts are with their family and friends.

I strongly encourage everyone to give generously and offer support in any way they can to this important and remarkable organisation, so they can continue their life-saving work.”

Mae Beiciau Gwaed Cymru yn gweithio gyda chwe ymddiriedolaeth GIG yng Nghymru, gyda'r nod o ddarparu gwasanaeth dibynadwy, am ddim ac o ansawdd uchel i fyrddau iechyd. Mae tîm Beiciau Gwaed Cymru i gyd yn wirfoddolwyr sy'n defnyddio eu sgiliau, eu hamser a'u brwdfrydedd i gefnogi'r GIG.

Cafodd Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, gyfle yn Sioe Eglwysbach eleni i ddal i fyny â rhai o'r gwirfoddolwyr ymroddedig hyn ac i ddysgu mwy am eu gwaith presennol, yn ogystal â chwrdd â rhai o'u haelodau presennol a chyn-aelodau gwych.

Wrth sôn am ei chyfarfod â Beiciau Gwaed Cymru, dywedodd Janet:

"Roedd hi’n wych dal i fyny â Beiciau Gwaed Cymru yn Sioe Eglwysbach eleni. Mae digwyddiadau fel hyn yn eu galluogi i hyrwyddo'r gwaith hanfodol maen nhw'n ei wneud, gwaith y dylem i gyd fod yn wirioneddol ddiolchgar amdano.

Mae'r sefydliad hwn nid yn unig yn arbed tua £500,000 i'r gwasanaeth iechyd lleol bob blwyddyn, ond yn bwysicach fyth, mae'n achub bywydau di-ri bob blwyddyn.

Cefais yr anrhydedd o eistedd ar feic o'r enw Selwyn a chlywed y stori y tu ôl i'w enw. Roedd Selwyn yn feiciwr a fu farw yn anffodus wrth gyflawni ei ddyletswyddau. Yn drasig, collodd beiciwr arall ei fywyd fis diwethaf mewn damwain yn Sir Benfro. Mae fy meddyliau gyda'u teulu a'u ffrindiau.

Rwy'n annog pawb i roi'n hael a chynnig cefnogaeth mewn unrhyw ffordd y gallant i'r sefydliad pwysig a rhyfeddol hwn, fel y gallant barhau â'u gwaith o achub bywydau."
