Following the sad passing of His Excellency Pope Francis, he has been praised for his humility and tireless efforts to protect the environment and support some the poorest people globally.
Commenting after learning of this sad news, Janet Finch-Saunders MS, Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and the Environment, said:
“In choosing the name of Francis of Assisi the Pope not only honoured a friar who was patron saint of the poor and ecology, but set the course for his period of global leadership.
“Throughout his tenure Pope Francis took actions to care for the environment and some of the most vulnerable and poor in the world.
"As his excellency said himself, death is not the end but the start of something.
“His work will be looked on positively, and undoubtedly influence communities today and in the future. That goes to highlight the greatness of his humility during his time with us here on earth.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the catholic community in Aberconwy and globally”.
