Over the weekend Llandudno hosted the Welsh Conservative Policy Forum, where new policies ahead of the Welsh Parliamentary elections were announced.
Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy welcomed the announcements, and was delighted that the event was hosted in the constituency she has the honour to represent: Aberconwy.
During the Welsh Conservative Policy Forum, the Leader of the Welsh Conservatives Darren Millar MS announced that a Welsh Conservative Government would:
- Cut Ministerial pay by 10% and freeze it for four years;
- Freeze Welsh Government employee salaries of over £100,000 for four years;
- End unnecessary work form home practices for Welsh Government staff to improve collaboration, accountability, and access to support.
Commenting on these policy announcements Janet said:
“I really enjoyed hosting the Welsh Conservative Policy Forum at the Imperial Hotel, Llandudno, as well as listening to fantastic contributions made by my Welsh Conservative colleagues.
“Welsh Government is failing on many fronts, so it is time for major reform, and that starts in house.
“A survey found that only 2% of Welsh government staff worked all the time in an office building. Productivity actually increases for those working in offices, so we want the staff back in so to help drive efficiency.
“When the vulnerable are having their support cut, it is only right that Ministerial salaries are chopped too. The savings can then be passed on to the vulnerable through a Welsh winter fuel allowance.”

Dros y penwythnos cynhaliwyd Fforwm Polisi y Ceidwadwyr Cymreig yn Llandudno, lle cyhoeddwyd polisïau newydd cyn etholiadau’r Senedd.
Rhoddodd Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, groeso i’r cyhoeddiadau, ac roedd hi’n falch iawn fod y digwyddiad wedi'i gynnal yn yr etholaeth y mae ganddi'r anrhydedd o'i chynrychioli, sef Aberconwy.
Yn ystod Fforwm Polisi y Ceidwadwyr Cymreig, cyhoeddodd Arweinydd y Ceidwadwyr Cymreig, Darren Millar AS, y byddai Llywodraeth Geidwadol Cymru yn gwneud y canlynol:
· Torri cyflogau Gweinidogion 10% a'i rewi am bedair blynedd;
· Rhewi cyflogau gweithwyr Llywodraeth Cymru a oedd yn ennill dros £100,000 am bedair blynedd;
· Rhoi terfyn ar arferion gweithio o gartref diangen ar gyfer staff Llywodraeth Cymru er mwyn gwella cydweithio, atebolrwydd a mynediad at gymorth.
Wrth sôn am y cyhoeddiadau polisi hyn, dywedodd Janet:
"Fe wnes i fwynhau cynnal Fforwm Polisi’r Ceidwadwyr Cymru yng Ngwesty'r Imperial, Llandudno, yn ogystal â gwrando ar gyfraniadau gwych a wnaed gan fy nghydweithwyr yn y Ceidwadwyr Cymreig.
"Mae Llywodraeth Cymru yn methu mewn sawl ffordd, felly mae’n hen bryd diwygio helaeth, ac mae hynny'n dechrau wrth ein traed.
"Canfu arolwg mai dim ond 2% o staff Llywodraeth Cymru oedd yn gweithio drwy'r amser mewn adeilad swyddfa. Mae cynhyrchiant yn cynyddu mewn gwirionedd i'r rhai sy'n gweithio mewn swyddfeydd, felly rydyn ni eisiau i'r staff ddychwelyd er mwyn helpu i wella effeithlonrwydd.
"Os yw’r rhai mwyaf bregus yn colli rhywfaint o’u cymorth, yna mae ond yn iawn fod cyflogau'r Gweinidogion yn cael eu tocio hefyd. Yna gellir trosglwyddo'r arbedion hyn ymlaen i'r rhai sy'n agored i niwed drwy lwfans tanwydd gaeaf Cymru."
