Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy is pleased that the mobile phone provider, Vodafone UK, is working with her to improve mobile phone coverage in Llandudno.
Having spoken about this issue on numerous occasions and set up a petition signed by hundreds of residents, Janet has been working hard to get mobile phone companies to step up and work to improve coverage across Llandudno.
Following a meeting with the Government Affairs Team at Vodafone it was made clear that the company is working hard to improve their coverage.
Commenting on the news Janet said:
“I am delighted that we are making progress with this very real issue across Llandudno.
“At a time when businesses are facing challenges on multiple fronts, the lack of reliable signal in the town is proving to be yet another obstacle to its success.
“This problem also impacts homes and families. In fact, 30% of the respondents to my petition expressed concerns about their children’s safety when they’re out with friends or at school, while 21% raised alarms over health risks due to the unreliable access to urgent support from healthcare professionals or loved ones.
"This is clearly a deep-rooted issue within our community, as seen by the hundreds signing my petition to improve coverage. While the rest of the world is advancing into the era of AI, Llandudno still lacks the basic infrastructure needed to make a simple mobile phone call.
“It is therefore good news that Vodafone are so willing to engage with us on this and I have been assured that they will be working hard in the future to improve coverage and capacity across our town.
“However, while one phone company engaging is a success, all others have yet to join and explain their plans on how they will improve the situation. I do hope that they do indeed care about improving their service, much like Vodafone seems willing to be.”

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, yn falch bod y darparwr ffôn symudol, Vodafone UK, yn gweithio gyda hi i wella’r signal ffôn symudol yn Llandudno.
Ar ôl siarad am y mater hwn sawl gwaith a lansio deiseb wedi'i llofnodi gan gannoedd o drigolion, mae Janet wedi bod yn gweithio'n galed i gael cwmnïau ffonau symudol i gamu i'r adwy a gweithio i wella'r ddarpariaeth ledled Llandudno.
Yn dilyn cyfarfod gyda Thîm Materion y Llywodraeth yn Vodafone, nodwyd yn glir bod y cwmni'n gweithio'n galed i wella eu gwasanaeth.
Wrth sôn am y newyddion dywedodd Janet:
"Rwy'n falch iawn ein bod ni’n gwneud cynnydd gyda'r broblem real iawn hon ledled Llandudno.
"Ar adeg pan fo busnesau'n wynebu heriau o sawl cyfeiriad, mae'r diffyg signal dibynadwy yn y dref yn rhwystr arall eto fyth i'w llwyddiant.
"Mae'r broblem hon hefyd yn effeithio ar gartrefi a theuluoedd. Yn wir, mynegodd 30% o'r ymatebwyr i'm deiseb bryderon am ddiogelwch eu plant pan fyddan nhw allan gyda ffrindiau neu yn yr ysgol, tra bod 21% wedi rhannu pryderon ynghylch peryglon iechyd yn sgil mynediad annibynadwy at gymorth brys gan weithwyr gofal iechyd proffesiynol neu anwyliaid.
"Mae'n amlwg ei fod yn fater sydd wedi'i wreiddio'n ddwfn yn ein cymuned, fel y gwelwyd gan y cannoedd a lofnododd fy neiseb i wella'r signal. Tra bod gweddill y byd yn symud ymlaen i oes Deallusrwydd Artiffisial, nid oes gan Landudno y seilwaith sylfaenol sydd ei angen i wneud galwad ffôn symudol syml.
"Mae'n newyddion da felly bod Vodafone mor barod i ymgysylltu â ni i ddatrys hyn ac rydw i wedi cael sicrwydd y byddan nhw’n gweithio'n galed yn y dyfodol i wella'r ddarpariaeth a'r signal ar draws ein tref.
"Fodd bynnag, er bod un cwmni ffôn yn cymryd rhan yn arwydd o lwyddiant, dydy’r lleill i gyd ddim wedi ymuno â ni eto i egluro eu cynlluniau i wella'r sefyllfa. Rydw i wir yn gobeithio eu bod nhw’n malio go iawn am wella eu gwasanaeth, fel yr ymddengys y mae Vodafone."
