Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has disclosed that the daily footfall at the library and tourist information centre under consideration for relocation in Llandudno, is increasing.

The daily footfall in the library during the last two years:

  • April 2022 – March 2023: 76,720 for the year, and 257 daily
  • April 2023 – March 2024: 85,723 for the year, and 292 daily

The daily footfall in the tourist information centre during the last two years:

  • April 2022 – March 2023: 80,056 for the year, and 228 daily
  • April 2023 – March 2024: 88,122 for the year, and 254 daily

Mrs Finch-Saunders MS, who has been supporting residents with serious concerns about the proposed relocations said:

“The library and tourist information centre are central hubs in Llandudno.

“The data proves their increasing popularity, with more people using both services in 23/24 than 22/23.

“To be looking to relocate two facilities that are seeing usage on the rise is, quite frankly, ridiculous.

“More so, the Local Authority has now admitted to me that they acknowledge that some visitors to Llandudno would not want to walk to Venue Cymru and as such they are looking for ways to ensure a town centre tourist information presence including digital boards and pop-up information points.

“The fact that they are looking for town centre tourist solutions proves, again, that Venue Cymru is an inappropriate location. They should scrap the plan to remove the tourist information centre from the heart of Wales’s leading tourist destination.”

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, wedi datgelu bod nifer yr ymwelwyr dyddiol â’r llyfrgell a'r ganolfan groeso sydd dan ystyriaeth i'w symud yn Llandudno, ar gynnydd.

Nifer yr ymwelwyr dyddiol â’r llyfrgell yn ystod y ddwy flynedd ddiwethaf:

  • Ebrill 2022 – Mawrth 2023: 76,720 ar gyfer y flwyddyn, a 257 bob dydd
  • Ebrill 2023 – Mawrth 2024: 85,723 ar gyfer y flwyddyn, a 292 bob dydd

Nifer yr ymwelwyr dyddiol â’r ganolfan groeso yn ystod y ddwy flynedd ddiwethaf:

  • Ebrill 2022 – Mawrth 2023: 80,056 ar gyfer y flwyddyn, a 228 bob dydd
  • Ebrill 2023 – Mawrth 2024: 88,122 ar gyfer y flwyddyn, a 254 bob dydd

Meddai Mrs Finch-Saunders AS, sydd wedi bod yn cefnogi trigolion sydd â phryderon difrifol am y bwriad i gau:

"Mae'r llyfrgell a'r canolfannau croeso i dwristiaid yn ganolfannau canolog yn Llandudno.

"Mae'r data'n profi eu poblogrwydd cynyddol, gyda mwy o bobl yn defnyddio'r ddau wasanaeth yn 23/24 nag yn 22/23.

"Mae ystyried symud dau gyfleuster sy'n gweld defnydd cynyddol yn chwerthinllyd, a bod yn onest.

"Yn fwy felly, mae'r Awdurdod Lleol bellach wedi cyfaddef i mi’n ysgrifenedig eu bod yn cydnabod na fyddai rhai ymwelwyr â Llandudno am gerdded i Venue Cymru ac felly maen nhw’n chwilio am ffyrdd o sicrhau bod gwybodaeth i dwristiaid ar gael yng nghanol y dref, gan gynnwys byrddau digidol a phwyntiau gwybodaeth dros dro.

"Mae'r ffaith eu bod yn chwilio am atebion i dwristiaid canol y dref yn profi, unwaith eto, fod Venue Cymru yn lleoliad amhriodol. Dylent anghofio’r cynllun i symud y ganolfan groeso o galon cyrchfan dwristaidd flaenllaw Cymru."
