Conwy Valley Communities Cut-off from Bus Services / Cymunedau Dyffryn Conwy heb wasanaethau bws

Tal y Bont

Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has sent an urgent letter to Cllr Charlie McCoubrey, Council Leader, Conwy County Borough Council, requesting that they make urgent arrangements for a shuttle bus to be provided for residents in Dolgarrog and Tal-y-Bont.

The B5106 is closed between Dolgarrog and Trefriw so to facilitate work to improve drainage and flood alleviation. However, whilst there was previously a shuttle service in place to transport people to the re-routed 19 bus, this is no longer in operation.

It is understood that Conwy County Borough Council has refused to pay Llew Jones for the provision of a shuttle service.

The Leader of the Council has responded to Mrs Finch-Saunders by forwarding the urgent letter to Cllr Goronwy Edwards, Cabinet Member for Infrastructure, Transport and Facilities, for addressing.

Commenting on the County Council depriving rural communities of public transport, Janet said:

“The failure of Conwy County Borough Council to arrange public transport for the villages is leaving residents unable to access GP appointments in Llanrwst, attend hospital appointments in Llandudno, and travel to access other services and businesses.

“This is the first week of the school holiday, a time when a significant number of young people are likely to be using bus services for days out. For all in Dolgarrog and Tal-y-Bont, this is no longer a possibility.

“The train station in Maenan is not a genuine solution for the majority, due to various reasons, including accessibility.

“The Leader of the Council has already responded to my urgent letter by passing the buck to the portfolio holder, Cllr Goronwy Edwards. Bearing in mind that he also represent the communities as a ward councillor, I hope that he uses the levers at his disposal to address the crisis caused by his own Cabinet and Council.”

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, wedi anfon llythyr brys at y Cynghorydd Charlie McCoubrey, Arweinydd Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy, yn gofyn iddo wneud trefniadau brys i ddarparu bws gwennol i drigolion Dolgarrog a Thal-y-bont.

Mae'r B5106 ar gau rhwng Dolgarrog a Threfriw er mwyn hwyluso gwaith i wella draenio a lliniaru llifogydd. Fodd bynnag, er bod gwasanaeth gwennol ar waith o'r blaen i gludo pobl i'r bws rhif 19 sydd wedi'i ail-gyfeirio, nid yw’n rhedeg bellach.

Credir fod Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy wedi gwrthod talu Llew Jones i ddarparu gwasanaeth gwennol.

Mae Arweinydd y Cyngor wedi ymateb i Mrs Finch-Saunders drwy anfon y llythyr brys at sylw’r Cynghorydd Goronwy Edwards, Aelod o’r Cabinet dros Isadeiledd, Cludiant a Chyfleusterau.

Wrth sôn am y Cyngor Sir yn amddifadu cymunedau gwledig o drafnidiaeth gyhoeddus, dywedodd Janet:

"Mae methiant Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy i drefnu trafnidiaeth gyhoeddus ar gyfer y pentrefi yn golygu na all preswylwyr fynd i apwyntiadau meddyg teulu yn Llanrwst, mynd i apwyntiadau ysbyty yn Llandudno, a theithio i wasanaethau a busnesau eraill.

"Dyma wythnos gyntaf gwyliau'r ysgol, adeg pan mae nifer sylweddol o bobl ifanc yn debygol o fod yn defnyddio gwasanaethau bws am ddyddiau allan. I bawb yn Nolgarrog a Thal-y-bont, dyw hyn bellach ddim yn opsiwn.

"Nid yw'r orsaf drenau ym Maenan yn opsiwn ymarferol i'r mwyafrif, oherwydd amryw resymau, gan gynnwys hygyrchedd.

"Mae Arweinydd y Cyngor eisoes wedi ymateb i'm llythyr brys drwy basio’r mater ymlaen at ddeiliad y portffolio, y Cynghorydd Goronwy Edwards. Gan gofio ei fod hefyd yn cynrychioli'r cymunedau fel cynghorydd ward, rwy'n gobeithio y bydd yn defnyddio'r adnoddau sydd ar gael iddo i fynd i'r afael â'r argyfwng a achoswyd gan ei Gabinet a'i Gyngor ei hun."
