Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, is encouraging residents to contact Conwy County Borough Council to say where they want 20mph to change.

The call follows the disclosure that 3,796 drivers have been caught exceeding the 20mph speed limit in Wales since January, and that between March and April 114 were at a single location, Glan-y-Mor Road in Penrhyn Bay, Aberconwy.

Have your say on where 20mph should be changed by emailing [email protected]

Commenting on the volume of enforcement action, Janet said:

“With the Welsh Government openly accepting that there needs to be a review of 20mph, and residents contacting local authorities with their suggestions, enforcement in the new 20mph zones should be suspended.

“Here in Aberconwy we have a hotspot of residents being caught speeding in Penrhyn Bay. Rather than continuing to catch drivers, there should be an urgent review of the suitability of the new 20mph limit.

“I encourage as many residents as possible to email Conwy County Borough Council to inform them where they would like the 20mph limits changed.

“You use the roads, so you should have your say”.

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, yn annog trigolion i gysylltu â Chyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy i ddweud lle maen nhw am i’r terfyn 20mya newid.

Daw'r alwad yn dilyn y datgeliad bod 3,796 o yrwyr wedi cael eu dal yn torri’r terfyn cyflymder o 20mya yng Nghymru ers mis Ionawr, a bod 114 rhwng mis Mawrth a mis Ebrill mewn un lleoliad, Ffordd Glan-y-Môr ym Mae Penrhyn, Aberconwy.

Dyma gyfle i gael dweud eich dweud ar ble y dylid newid y terfyn 20mya, trwy e-bostio traffic@conwy.gov.uk

Wrth sôn am yr holl weithgarwch gorfodi, dywedodd Janet:

“Gyda Llywodraeth Cymru’n derbyn bod angen adolygiad o’r terfyn 20mya, a thrigolion yn cysylltu ag awdurdodau lleol gyda'u hawgrymiadau, dylid gohirio gorfodaeth yn y parthau 20mya newydd.

“Yma yn Aberconwy mae gennym un lleoliad lle mae llawer o drigolion yn cael eu dal yn goryrru ym Mae Penrhyn. Yn hytrach na pharhau i ddal gyrwyr, dylid cynnal adolygiad brys o addasrwydd y terfyn 20mya newydd.

“Rwy'n annog cymaint o drigolion â phosibl i anfon e-bost at Gyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy i'w hysbysu ynghylch ble yr hoffen nhw i'r cyfyngiadau 20mya newid.

“Rydych chi’n defnyddio'r ffyrdd, felly dylech chi gael dweud eich dweud”.
