Flood

Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has warned against the possible flooding across North Wales in the coming days.

Residents are being warned that there are “significant” spring tides forecast and some flooding of low-lying land and roads is "expected". A flood alert is in place already but tides are expected to peak on Monday and Tuesday, March 11-12.

Easterly winds are predicted to be moderate to strong on Monday. Forecasters are expecting tides to be up to 40cm higher than usual due to prevailing weather conditions.

Commenting on the news Janet said:

“I advise all the constituents of Conwy who are on the coast or around the mouth of the estuary to remain vigilant and avoid putting yourself at any unnecessary risk.

“National Resources Wales will be closely monitoring the situation and issuing updates as they come in.

“Please be careful on the beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths, roads, low-lying land and estuaries. Also be wary of sea spray and waves as they could contain debris. If you do find yourself in trouble then contact the emergency services.”
