Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy and Shadow Minister for Climate Change has visited the Aberduna Nature Reserve in Denbighshire.

The reserve run by North Wales Wildlift Trust is 49 acres and offers fantastic views across the Alyn valley to Moel Famau and the Clwydian Range.

In the Spring and Summer, the site is full of wildflowers such as bluebells and orchids.  Sheep graze all year round to control the bracken and shrub, with ponies added from September to March.

After the visit, the Shadow Minister for Climate Change said:

“What a fantastic nature reserve we have here in North East Wales where members of the public can enjoy spectacular landscapes and beautiful wildflowers whilst surrounded by roaming sheep and ponies.

“Additionally, the entry is free and I would encourage any families looking for a cheap day out on weekends and school holidays to check out this reserve.

“Not only is it excellent exercise, but there is so much to see and keep the little ones entertained.  Indeed, the sheer variety of trees, plants, birds and butterflies will keep anyone fascinated for hours!

“I want to thank the Trust and their incredible team for managing this extraordinary site.  The reserve is truly a haven for wildlife and a fantastic visitor attraction for all ages.”

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy a Gweinidog Newid Hinsawdd yr Wrthblaid, wedi ymweld â Gwarchodfa Natur Aberduna yn Sir Ddinbych.

Mae’r warchodfa 49 erw, sy’n cael ei rhedeg gan Ymddiriedolaeth Bywyd Gwyllt Gogledd Cymru, yn cynnig golygfeydd gwych ar draws dyffryn Alun i Foel Famau a Bryniau Clwyd.

Yn ystod y gwanwyn a’r haf, mae’r safle’n llawn blodau gwyllt fel clychau’r gog a thegeirianau. Mae defaid yn pori’r safle drwy gydol y flwyddyn i reoli’r rhedyn a’r prysgwydd, gyda merlod yn ymuno â nhw o fis Medi i fis Mawrth.

Ar ôl yr ymweliad, dywedodd Gweinidog Newid Hinsawdd yr Wrthblaid:

“Dyma warchodfa natur wych yn y gogledd ddwyrain, lle mae’r cyhoedd yn gallu mwynhau tirwedd ysblennydd a blodau gwyllt hardd yng nghanol defaid a merlod crwydrol.

“Yn ogystal, mae mynediad am ddim a byddwn yn annog unrhyw deuluoedd sy’n chwilio am ddiwrnod allan rhad ar benwythnosau a gwyliau’r ysgol i ymweld â’r warchodfa hon.

“Nid yn unig mae’n ymarfer corff rhagorol, ond mae cymaint i’w weld ac i ddiddanu’r plantos. Yn wir, bydd yr amrywiaeth enfawr o goed, planhigion, adar a gloÿnnod byw yn cynnal diddordeb unrhyw un am oriau lawer!

“Hoffwn ddiolch i’r Ymddiriedolaeth a’u tîm anhygoel am reoli’r safle anhygoel hwn. Mae’r warchodfa’n hafan heb ei hail i fywyd gwyllt ac yn atyniad gwych i ymwelwyr o bob oed.”
