Janet Finch-Saunders MS/AS and the Monkey Man.

Llandudno’s iconic ‘Monkey Man’, Samuel Peters, has been presented with an award by Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, to celebrate his 10 years of service.

Tourism is one of the main sectors in Llandudno, and Sam’s volunteering sees him go above and beyond to ensure tourists enjoy Llandudno, and keep coming back to North Wales.

Sam the Money Man has been walking around the town dressed up in various guises with his toy monkey beside him in a pram for a decade. He has around 100 outfits, including Native American, Reggae, and Batman costumes.

The Monkey Man and his clothing have become an uplifting point of interest for many residents, and tourists, every day for the last decade.

Commenting on the Monkey Man’s achievement, Janet Finch-Saunders said:

“Thank you so much to Sam for 10 fantastic years of service to the Llandudno community.

“The Monkey Man always brings a smile to the faces of those of us working in high street offices, passing in his regalia and raising a friendly hand.

“You are making an invaluable contribution to Llandudno, entertaining locals and tourists alike, and we are so grateful to you.”
