Further to the news that the deaths of four patients at the vascular service, Ysbyty Glan Clwyd will be investigated further by a coroner, Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has called on the Minister for Health and Social Services, Eluned Morgan MS, to urgently review whether upholding the centralisation of vascular services at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd is safe.

Commenting on the matter, Janet said:

“The Minister for Health and Social Services needs to urgently establish if it is safe for Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board to continue providing vascular treatment.

“Individuals are contacting me in fear that one day they may require care at Glan Clwyd.

“Time and again evidence emerges that centralisation in Denbighshire has not worked, so a clear plan must be provided which puts the Health Board on a path to delivering vascular care that the public has confidence in.”

Written Questions to the Minister for Health and Social Services:

  • Will the Minister urgently review whether upholding the centralisation of vascular services at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd is safe?
  • Will the Minister liaise with Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board so to develop a plan that helps restores public confidence in north Wales vascular care?

Yn dilyn y newyddion y bydd crwner yn ymchwilio ymhellach i farwolaethau pedwar claf yn y gwasanaeth fasgwlaidd, Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, mae Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, wedi galw ar y Gweinidog Iechyd a Gwasanaethau Cymdeithasol, Eluned Morgan AS, i adolygu ar unwaith a yw dal ati i ganoli gwasanaethau fasgwlaidd yn Ysbyty Glan Clwyd yn ddiogel.

Wrth sôn am y mater, dywedodd Janet:

"Mae angen i'r Gweinidog Iechyd a Gwasanaethau Cymdeithasol sefydlu ar frys a yw'n ddiogel i Fwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Betsi Cadwaladr barhau i ddarparu triniaeth fasgwlaidd.

"Mae unigolion yn cysylltu â mi yn poeni efallai y bydd angen gofal arnyn nhw yng Nglan Clwyd rhyw ddydd.

"Dro ar ôl tro mae tystiolaeth yn dod i'r amlwg nad yw'r canoli yn Sir Ddinbych wedi gweithio, felly mae'n rhaid darparu cynllun clir sy'n rhoi'r Bwrdd Iechyd ar lwybr i ddarparu gofal fasgwlaidd y mae gan y cyhoedd hyder ynddo."
