Marle Hall

Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has spoken of her delight that the Rt Hon Robert Jenrick MP, Minister for Immigration, UK Government, has listened to the concerns raised by her and many across the community about the suitability of a Llandudno Junction mansion to house asylum seekers.

After being notified by email on 22 March 2023 of the intention to place as many as 111 asylum seekers at the Hall, the Member of the Welsh Parliament immediately submitted a two page formal objection to the proposal.

The UK Government has now confirmed that Marle Hall will not be used as a Home Office facility.

Commenting in this important development, Janet said:

“I welcome the fact that the UK Government has listened to serious concerns raised on behalf of the community by me, Robin Millar MP, Conwy County Borough Council, and many others.

“Having been in contact with several constituents, I know that this news will be warmly welcomed.

“It is also a positive development for our local public services, which are not in a suitable position to take on any more pressure.

“This outcome proves that the Home Office has learnt an important lesson from their handling of the Hilton Garden Inn at Dolgarrog, and moved to a position where they actually listen to and act on local concerns.”

ENDS

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, wedi sôn ei bod wrth ei bodd fod y Gwir Anrhydeddus Robert Jenrick AS, Gweinidog Mewnfudo, Llywodraeth y DU, wedi gwrando ar y pryderon a godwyd ganddi hi a nifer ym mhob rhan o'r gymuned am addasrwydd plasty yng Nghyffordd Llandudno i gartrefu ceiswyr lloches.

Ar ôl cael gwybod ar e-bost ar 22 Mawrth 2023 o'r bwriad i osod cynifer â 111 o geiswyr lloches yn Marle Hall, cyflwynodd yr Aelod o’r Senedd wrthwynebiad ffurfiol dwy dudalen i'r cynnig ar unwaith.

Mae Llywodraeth y DU bellach wedi cadarnhau na fydd Marle Hall yn cael ei defnyddio fel cyfleuster i’r Swyddfa Gartref.

Wrth sôn am y datblygiad pwysig hwn, dywedodd Janet:

"Rwy'n croesawu'r ffaith fod Llywodraeth y Deyrnas Unedig wedi gwrando ar bryderon difrifol a godwyd ar ran y gymuned gen i, Robin Millar AS, Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy, a llawer mwy.

"Gan fy mod wedi bod mewn cysylltiad â sawl etholwr, gwn y bydd croeso cynnes i'r newyddion yma.

"Mae hefyd yn ddatblygiad positif i'n gwasanaethau cyhoeddus lleol, sydd ddim mewn sefyllfa addas i ymgymryd ag unrhyw bwysau cynyddol.

"Mae'r canlyniad hwn yn profi bod y Swyddfa Gartref wedi dysgu gwers bwysig o'u hymdriniaeth â’r sefyllfa yn Hilton Garden Inn yn Nolgarrog, ac wedi symud i sefyllfa lle maen nhw’n gwrando go iawn ar bryderon lleol ac yn gweithredu arnyn nhw."
