Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has welcomed the news that Three has decided not to pursue planning permission for a telecoms mast at St Mary’s Road/Claremont Road, Llandudno.

Clarke Telecom was undertaking a pre-application consultation for a mast that was intended to be 18m high: 8m higher than the average roof level in a residential area of Llandudno.

Having written an urgent letter to the Managing Director raising serious concerns, the Member of the Welsh Parliament has now secured a positive response.

Nicola Davies, Community Affairs Manager, Three, has written to the Member of the Welsh Parliament, stating:

“Clarke Telecom are agents working on behalf of Three and have shared your letter with me so I can respond.

“Following the conclusion of pre-application consultation I confirm we will not be proceeding with the proposed site on St Mary’s Road – no planning application will be submitted.

“We will be re-assessing potential alternative locations and engaging with the local planning authority.”

Commenting on the decision, Janet said:

“This will be a huge relief to so many residents. I have been proud to work with them to ensure that the mast does not go ahead.

“When looking at the drawings, it was clear that it would have been an absolute eyesore and not in keeping with the Victorian houses in this specific area.

“I thank Clarke Telecom and Three for listening and stopping the plan to apply for planning permission”.

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, wedi croesawu'r newyddion fod Three wedi penderfynu peidio â cheisio cael caniatâd cynllunio ar gyfer mast telathrebu ar Heol y Santes Fair/Heol Claremont yn Llandudno.

Roedd Clarke Telecom yn cynnal ymgynghoriad cyn ymgeisio am fast 18m o uchder: 8m yn uwch na lefel gyfartalog y toeau yn yr ardal breswyl hardd honno yn Llandudno.

Ar ôl ysgrifennu llythyr brys at y Rheolwr Gyfarwyddwr yn mynegi pryderon difrifol, mae'r Aelod o’r Senedd wedi derbyn ymateb cadarnhaol erbyn hyn.

Mae Nicola Davies, Rheolwr Materion Cymunedol, Three, wedi ysgrifennu at yr Aelod o’r Senedd yn dweud:

"Mae Clarke Telecom yn asiant sy'n gweithio ar ran Three ac wedi rhannu’ch llythyr gyda mi er mwyn i mi ymateb.

"Yn dilyn cwblhau’r ymgynghoriad cyn ymgeisio rwy'n cadarnhau na fyddwn yn bwrw ymlaen gyda'r safle arfaethedig ar Heol y Santes Fair – ni fydd cais cynllunio’n cael ei gyflwyno.

"Byddwn yn ail-asesu lleoliadau amgen posib ac yn trafod â'r awdurdod cynllunio lleol."

Wrth sôn am y penderfyniad, dywedodd Janet:

"Bydd hyn yn rhyddhad enfawr i gymaint o drigolion. Rwyf wedi bod yn falch o gael gweithio gyda nhw i sicrhau nad yw'r mast yn cael ei godi.

"Wrth edrych ar y darluniau, roedd hi'n amlwg y byddai wedi bod yn hyll iawn ac na fyddai’n cyd-fynd â'r tai Fictoraidd yn yr ardal benodol yma.

"Diolch i Clarke Telecom a Three am wrando a rhoi diwedd ar y bwriad i gyflwyno cais am ganiatâd cynllunio".
