Last week saw Janet Finch-Saunders MS pay a visit to Mamma Rosa, Mostyn Avenue, Craig-Y-Don, Llandudno,  United Kingdom.

The Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy stopped by to meet Sam Ricketts, one half of the young couple behind the successful Italian restaurant in Craig-Y-Don.  Sam, a former Welsh junior chef of the year runner-up, with experience acquired at top local restaurants Signatures and Bryn Williams, acquired Mamma Rosa with his partner Becky in 2019, and has continued to offer an extensive selection of traditional and contemporary Italian dishes.

Speaking after the visit, Janet said:

“It was lovely to meet Sam and understand some of the challenges facing the business currently.

“Clearly the cost-of-living crisis is hitting restaurants particularly hard given their reliance on energy.  We have seen that with the recent loss of long established Bistro Bach.

“January is a particularly difficult month for the sector, with customers feeling the pinch post-Christmas or partaking in Dry January.

“Many of the local hotels relied on for custom are currently closed themselves for holidays or restoration.

“It is at times like these when businesses rely on their local customers more than ever.

“I hope that as many people in the community as possible come along to support this young family who have invested heavily in making this work.

“In addition to their usual offering, they have great plans for some local events and anyone looking to book the space for a party or other private function is encouraged to get in touch.”
