Janet Finch-Saunders MS has given her support to the Samaritans’ Brew Monday campaign in support of mental health awareness.

The Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy gave her full backing to the campaign, which seeks to end the stereotypes surrounding so-called “Blue Mondays” this January.

The Brew Monday campaign is an event held on Monday 16th of January by the Samaritans to encourage everyone to reach out and discuss mental health, and to listen to those who may be struggling.

Commenting today on the campaign, Janet said:

“I would like to thank the Samaritans for all the incredibly crucial work that they are doing.

“With no scientific evidence in support, it’s vital that we dispel stigmas and stereotypes associated with Blue Monday.

“To help, all you have to do is reach out for a cup of tea and a catch-up with the people you care about.

“I would urge everyone to do anything they can to promote this campaign, whether it’s putting the kettle on for someone, or making others aware via social media.

“Sometimes, the smallest of acts can make an enormous difference to someone’s life”.

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders AS wedi rhoi ei chefnogaeth i ymgyrch ‘Brew Monday’ y Samariaid i gefnogi ymwybyddiaeth o iechyd meddwl.

Rhoddodd yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy ei chefnogaeth lawn i'r ymgyrch, sy'n ceisio rhoi diwedd ar y stereoteipiau sy'n gysylltiedig â'r hyn a elwir yn "Blue Mondays” fis Ionawr eleni.

Mae’r ymgyrch yn ddigwyddiad a gynhelir ddydd Llun 16 Ionawr gan y Samariaid i annog pawb i estyn allan a thrafod iechyd meddwl, ac i wrando ar y rhai a allai fod yn ei chael hi'n anodd.

Wrth sôn heddiw am yr ymgyrch, dywedodd Janet:

"Hoffwn ddiolch i'r Samariaid am yr holl waith hanfodol maen nhw'n ei wneud.

"Heb unrhyw dystiolaeth wyddonol i’w chefnogi, mae'n hanfodol ein bod yn chwalu stigma ac ystrydebau sy'n gysylltiedig â Blue Monday.

"I helpu, y cyfan sy'n rhaid i chi ei wneud yw estyn allan i gael paned a sgwrs gyda’r bobl sy’n bwysig i chi.

Byddwn yn annog pawb i wneud beth bynnag fedran nhw i hyrwyddo'r ymgyrch hon, boed hynny drwy ferwi’r tegell i rywun, neu wneud eraill yn ymwybodol drwy'r cyfryngau cymdeithasol.

"Weithiau, gall y pethau bychain wneud gwahaniaeth enfawr i fywyd rhywun".
