Janet Finch-Saunders MS has expressed her shock at the failure to advertise enough staffing vacancies at Llandudno Hospital.
The Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy highlighted that continued shortages in staff are placing patients at risk.
It comes as the Member reveals the results of a Freedom of Information Request which highlighted 11+ vacancies at Llandudno Hospital, but job advertisements for only 0.6 roles (Full-Time Equivalent).
Section 25A of the Nurse Staffing Levels Wales Act 2016 places a duty on local health boards to have sufficient nurses to allow the nurses time to care sensitively for patients wherever nursing services are provided or commissioned.
Speaking today, Janet said:
“I am shocked to find out that Llandudno Hospital are not even advertising for the vacancies that have been identified.
“What greater sign of mismanagement can there be than not even to have adverts in place for staff to fill all of the vacant nursing roles?
“The Welsh Government must urgently address the chronic shortage of nurses here in Wales, and do everything possible to ensure that Llandudno Hospital and the whole of Betsi Cadwalladr University Health Board steps up to the plate”.
