Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has questioned the Welsh Government on the impact of the closure of the Menai Bridge on businesses in Anglesey and Aberconwy.
Many local businesses in Aberconwy depend on this vital transport link for their everyday trade, and the closure also affects people commuting to work.
Speaking in the Senedd today, Janet said:
“Like others, I too was shocked at the sudden closure of Menai Bridge, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realise there were repairs needed to that bridge long before the closure came.
“The closure in itself is impacting already on my local constituents in Aberconwy.
“The business owners that I speak to who work on the island are saying that the continued uncertainty about the status of the bridge is causing them to record a massive drop in revenue.
“The Welsh Government must get the bridge back open soon, so that businesses across North West Wales are not left in the situation that they are in now”.
