After attending the Remembrance Sunday Service in Llandudno, Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has expressed her thanks to Llandudno Town Council for facilitating such a well organised day, especially on the 40th anniversary of the Falklands War.

The day saw a packed Holy Trinity Church with a sermon by Revd Andrew Sully, a parade under the command of Parade Marshal, Mr Gordon Woodyatt, and the laying of wreaths at the cenotaph.

Commenting on Remembrance Sunday, Janet said:

“I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the organisation of a very moving Remembrance Sunday here in Llandudno.

“It is a great honour to participate in a parade alongside veterans and service personnel.

“At a time when Llandudno and Aberconwy are hosting refugees from war-torn Ukraine, it is clear that the World is still a long way off from achieving peace and a situation where there is no war.

“By pursuing and promoting democracy globally, I remain hopeful that we will one day achieve the vision recorded in Isaiah 2:4 – Nations shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.”

ENDS

Ar ôl mynychu Gwasanaeth Sul y Cofio yn Llandudno, mae Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, wedi mynegi ei diolch i Gyngor Tref Llandudno am hwyluso diwrnod mor drefnus, yn enwedig o gofio bod 40 mlynedd ers Rhyfel y Falklands.

Roedd Eglwys y Drindod Sanctaidd dan ei sang, gyda phregeth gan y Parchedig Andrew Sully, gorymdaith dan ofal Marsial yr Orymdaith, Mr Gordon Woodyatt, a gosodwyd torchau wrth y gofadail.

Wrth sôn am Sul y Cofio, dywedodd Janet:

“Hoffwn ddiolch i bawb sydd wedi cyfrannu at drefnu Sul y Cofio hynod deimladwy yma yn Llandudno.

“Anrhydedd o’r mwyaf yw cymryd rhan mewn gorymdaith ochr yn ochr â'r lluoedd arfog a chyn-aelodau’r lluoedd arfog.

“Ar adeg pan fo Llandudno ac Aberconwy yn croesawu ffoaduriaid o Wcráin, mae'n amlwg bod sicrhau byd o heddwch lle nad oes rhyfeloedd mwyach yn dal i fod yn bell i ffwrdd.

“Drwy hyrwyddo democratiaeth yn fyd-eang, rwy'n dal i obeithio y byddwn ni'n llwyddo un dydd i gyflawni'r weledigaeth a gofnodwyd yn Eseia 2:4 - ni chyfyd cenedl gleddyf yn erbyn cenedl, ac ni ddysgant ryfel mwyach.”
