Janet Finch-Saunders is today backing calls for a Rolls Royce led consortium to build its first small nuclear reactor factory in North Wales. Deeside is vying with Sunderland, Richmond, Ferrybridge in West Yorkshire, Stallingborough, and Lincolnshire for the factory which will bring an investment of up to £200m and create 200 direct jobs.

Commenting on this, Janet said.

“I’m really hoping Rolls Royce will see the potential in moving its operations to North Wales, which would bring the economic boost we need to see in the region. With Airbus and Aston Martin already operating in Wales, the country has shown itself to be a competitive and deliverable market for key industries in manufacturing and energy.

“I have long campaigned for Wales to be a hub for highly skilled green sector jobs, and North Wales is already a leading area for nuclear.  Thanks to Trawsfynydd and Wylfa, our region already has a strong nuclear platform for Rolls Royce to build on.

“By choosing Wales, Rolls Royce will also be strengthening cross-border connectivity with England, and show again that it is truly one of the British businesses”

Cymraeg:

Heddiw, mae Janet Finch-Saunders yn cefnogi’r galw ar i gonsortiwm dan arweiniad Rolls Royce adeiladu ei ffatri adweithyddion niwclear bach gyntaf yn y Gogledd. Mae Glannau Dyfrdwy yn cystadlu â Sunderland, Richmond, Ferrybridge yng ngorllewin Swydd Efrog, Stallingborough a Swydd Lincoln am y ffatri a fydd yn dod â buddsoddiad o hyd at £200 miliwn ac yn creu 200 o swyddi uniongyrchol.

Wrth sôn am hyn, dywedodd Janet:

“Rwy'n gobeithio'n fawr y bydd Rolls Royce yn gweld y potensial i symud ei weithrediadau i'r Gogledd, a fyddai'n dod â'r hwb economaidd rydyn ni ei angen yn y rhanbarth. Gydag Airbus ac Aston Martin eisoes yn gweithredu yng Nghymru, mae'r wlad wedi dangos ei bod yn farchnad gystadleuol sy’n gallu cyflawni ar gyfer diwydiannau allweddol ym maes gweithgynhyrchu ac ynni.

“Rydw i wedi ymgyrchu ers tro byd i Gymru fod yn ganolfan ar gyfer swyddi hynod fedrus yn y sector gwyrdd, ac mae'r Gogledd yn ardal flaenllaw ar gyfer ynni niwclear. Diolch i Drawsfynydd a’r Wylfa, mae gan ein rhanbarth lwyfan niwclear cryf eisoes i Rolls Royce adeiladu arno.

“Drwy ddewis Cymru, bydd Rolls Royce yn cryfhau cysylltedd trawsffiniol â Lloegr hefyd, ac yn dangos eto ei fod yn fusnes gwirioneddol Brydeinig.”
