Aberconwy MS speaks out in support of Senedd Health Committee’s critical report on NHS waiting times in Wales

Today the Senedd’s Health Committee is unveiling its report, outlining its findings after an inquiry looking at NHS waiting times and the situation facing many patients in Wales. Shockingly the report highlights that “the equivalent of 1 in 5 people in Wales are currently on a waiting list for diagnosis or treatment”.

Commenting on the news Janet said:

“I would also like to take this opportunity to commend my colleague and Chair of the Health Committee, Russell George MS, for overseeing this report and shining a light on this disgraceful situation.

“This report spells out the continuous failings of the Welsh Labour Government over the past 22 years of devolution. Their continued mismanaged approach to our NHS has resulted in this truly catastrophic situation where the equivalent of 20% of the people of Wales are on a waiting list. This is totally unacceptable.

“I would implore the Health Minister to follow the 27 recommendations set out in this report and to begin to rebuild our NHS so that patients receive the care they need and deserve in a timely and efficient manner. The findings of this report are clear, the Welsh Government needs to take urgent action to address this crisis.”
