The Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy – Janet Finch-Saunders MS – has announced that she will be holding a digital hospitality and retail stakeholder meeting to review what targeted support is required to address the impact of the present staffing shortage.
The virtual Microsoft Teams meeting will be held on Wednesday 11 August 2021, between 10:00 am and 11:30 am. Janet will be joined during proceedings by three guest speakers - Glenn Evans, Director of The Royal Oak Hotel & Waterloo Hotel, Berin Jones, Chairman of the Llandudno Hospitality Association, and Lawrence Wood, Principal of Coleg Llandrillo. Interested businesses can contact [email protected] to receive the joining link.
Speaking of her meeting, Janet said:
“The hospitality and retail sectors are the backbone of the North Wales economy, providing rewarding and long-term job opportunities to many local families and young people. They are the perfect setting to learn essential life skills, including team-work, customer service and time management.
“I am clear that it is time we stop talking these industries down, and highlight the prospects for career progression that these sectors offer. This urgent conversational reset must be led by Cardiff Bay, with any positive proposals for change recognising the difficulties felt even before the pandemic.
“This is why I am delighted to be bringing local stakeholders together in a virtual forum this summer, providing a chance to hear from those who are primed to make a real change in the here and now, such as Coleg Llandrillo, as well as to recognise what further support is required.
“I urge any local business impacted by the staff shortage to sign up to the meeting.”
