Assembly Member for Aberconwy, Janet Finch-Saunders, has expressed her disappointment that the Paddle Steamer Waverley will be unable to dock in Llandudno this coming September. The cause for this relates to a delay in repair works being undertaken on the Pier.
The AM said: “Tourism is so vital to Llandudno’s local economy, so it is incredibly disappointing that because of delays, caused by contract negotiations, the licence to undertake work on the Pier was allowed to expire.
“It was decided over three years ago that work would be undertaken to both replace and strengthen the landing stage, which would allow for larger boats to visit our beautiful seaside resort.
“Larger cruise ships would of course be able to bring an increase in visitor footfall and tourists to Llandudno, so these delays will have a ripple effect for a significant number of local hoteliers and retailers.”
