The Welsh Government target is for 95% of patients to spend less than 4 hours in all emergency care facilities from arrival until admission, transfer or discharge. After finding that Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board’s three major A&E departments (Wrexham Maelor Hospital, Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, and Ysbyty Gwynedd) saw the lowest percentage of patients within 4 hours in August 2017, Janet Finch-Saunders AM is raising further concerns about the Welsh Government’s management of the health board.

Janet said:

“Of the 13 major A&E departments in Wales, the worst performing on waiting times are Morriston Hospital in Abertawe Bro Morganwg University Health Board which saw 74.3%, Wrexham Maelor Hospital which saw 74.4%, Ysbyty Gwynedd which saw 74.9%, and Ysbyty Glan Clwyd which saw 68.5%.

“It is extremely concerning to think that patients here in North Wales, especially those going to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, are far less likely to be seen within the set target time.

“As opposed to Minor Injury, in Major injury patients have acute injury or illnesses, so need to be seen as soon as possible.

“Of all the health boards, given that BCUHB is in special measures and directly managed by the Welsh Government, you would think that it would be reaching the waiting time targets. Clearly, and worryingly, the Welsh Government, and Vaughan Gething AM, Cabinet Secretary for Health, Well-being and Sport, continue to fail the people of North Wales and BCUHB”.

Targed Llywodraeth Cymru ydi fod 95% o gleifion yn gwario llai na phedair awr ym mhob cyfleuster gofal, o gyrraedd hyd at gael eu derbyn, eu trosglwyddo neu rhyddhau. Ar ôl darganfod bod tair adran damweiniau ac achosion brys mawr Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Betsi Cadwaladr (Ysbyty Maelor Wrecsam, Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, ac Ysbyty Gwynedd) wedi gweld y canran isaf o gleifion oddi mewn pedair awr yn Awst 2017, mae Janet Finch-Saunders AC yn codi mwy o bryderon ynglŷn â rheolaeth Llywodraeth Cymru o’r bwrdd iechyd.

Dywedodd Janet:

“O’r 13 adran damweiniau ac achosion brys mawr yng Nghymru, y perfformwyr gwaethaf ar amserau aros ydi Ysbyty Morriston yn Fwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Abertawe Bro Morgannwg a welodd 74.3%, Ysbyty Maelor Wrecsam a welodd 74.4%, Ysbyty Gwynedd a welodd 74.9%, ac Ysbyty Glan Clwyd a welodd 68.5%.

“Mae’n achosi pryder mawr i mi fod claf yma yng Ngogledd Cymru, yn enwedig y rhai sy'n mynd i Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, yn llawer llai tebygol o gael eu gweld o fewn yr amser targed penodol.

“Yn wahanol i unedau mân anafiadau, yn yr adran damweiniau mawr mae cleifion efo anafiadau neu salwch aciwt, felly, maen nhw angen cael eu gweld mor fuan â phosib.

“Wrth gysidro pob bwrdd iechyd, gan fod BIPBC mewn mesurau arbennig ac o dan reolaeth Llywodraeth Cymru, byddech yn meddwl y byddai'n cyrraedd y targedau amser aros. Yn amlwg, mae Llywodraeth Cymru, a Vaughan Gething AC, Ysgrifennydd y Cabinet dros Iechyd, Llesiant a Chwaraeon, yn parhau i adael pobl Gogledd Cymru, ac BIPBC, i lawr”
