The town planning committee unanimously recommended the application, which is yet to go before Conwy County Council, be refused
Plans to re-develop the Pier Pavilion site in Llandudno with a £15m restaurant and apartment complex have been dealt a blow after being rejected by the town council.
On Wednesday evening Llandudno Town Council's planning committee unanimously voted against the controversial plans for the derelict site close to the pier.
Developer Alan Waldron wants to build a £15m restaurant and apartment facility.
But he has run into opposition for his ambitious plans with a community group called Future Llandudno Action Group set up when initial proposals were put out to the public.
The site has lain empty for more than 20 years after the original pavilion burnt down
The negative reaction to initial plans prompted changes from the developer before they were submitted but that has not been enough for Llandudno Town Council.
They voted against it but that does not mean the application process is over.
Their decision is advisory and it will still go before planners at Conwy County Council for a final decision at a later date.
