Janet Finch-Saunders AM has welcomed confirmation that Conwy County Borough Council are to inspect the pedestrian railway bridge in Deganwy, which crosses from the Platt Fields carpark to the seashore.

Further to concerns raised by constituents, the Assembly Member has been campaigning for improvement works to be undertaken to improve the looks and safety of the bridge, which some local residents have noted as being in a bad state, rusting, and in desperate need of painting.

Janet said:

“It is such a shame that this eyesore has been left unattended for so long – especially given that it leads right out onto our wonderful Wales Coastal Path– key attraction for many visitors to Aberconwy and Wales.

“The beach is part of the Aber Afon Conwy Site of Special Interest and features a genuine Victorian Promenade Beach Shelter.

“Further to my interventions, I am delighted that the Council have now placed the bridge on their inspection programme for January 2017, which should identify and prioritise any maintenance work required.”
