Castle Walls get Orange for Charity

Conwy Castle will be turned orange to celebrate World Osteporosis Day and raise awareness of osteoporosis TODAY, October 20, From 5pm.

Osteoporosis is the fragile bone disease that causes painful, debilitating and sometimes fatal fractures, p[particularly of the wrist, hip and spine.

It affects more than 3 million people in the UK and 1 in 2 women and 1 in 5 men, over the age of 50, will break a bone, mainly because of poor bone health.

Organised by the North Wales Bone Unit at Llandudno Hospital, the castle will be lit up orange to mark World Osteoporosis Day and in recognition of the charitable work carried out by the National Osteoporosis Society.

The occasion also marks the tenth anniversary for the Osteoporosis and Bone Unit

Over the last decade the charity has funded ground breaking research into osteoporosis, set up support groups across the UK, raised awareness and provided a lifeline for those with the disease.

Louise Fox, the charity’s development manager for Wales, said: “As a charity, we are always striving to raise awareness of osteoporosis, especially as we are celebrating our 30th anniversary this year”
